Microsoft Desktop Specialist

The Role:

4Data have a Microsoft Desktop Specialist Role available within our Managed Services division. This role would suit an outstanding current desktop specialist working with complex customised Microsoft Desktop environments. The role is to focus on our clients’ project and BAU desktop work at 4Data. Required tasks include Microsoft desktop maintenance, optimisation, fault finding, deployments, implementations, upgrades, and 2-3rd level ticket tasks. The role also requires you to be the technical lead in desktop technology, and the mentoring of junior and graduate staff. The selected applicant will be part of a niche team of IT Professionals working within our Canberra division.

The Applicants:

We are looking for people who are established Desktop professionals who focus on desktop technology, and understand the power of a fully functioning, optimised desktop. You would ideally have deep and wide commercial Microsoft desktop experience. Work in the customisation of desktops is paramount (UOE – Unmanaged Operating Environment), and SOE, COE, MOE, DMS, SDE experience is not required.

You are prepared to go through rigorous recruitment which includes a written examination, and 3 interviews (introductory, technical, referees and final). This is not easy. Upon placement you will be mentored each week by a separate established 4Data engineer who will peer review your job performance, knowledge and workmanship. You must commit to the completion of the Microsoft certification program to pass probation and qualifying requirements. You would have knowledge of established Microsoft desktop and server technologies, and a willingness to further develop yourself. You would be precise, systematic, with an eye for detail, and revel in achieving a job well done. You need to be compassionate to user’s issues, able to listen to the issues, be sympathetic to the problems, and have a strong desire to help people. You would also be expected to undertake whatever is necessary in the successful delivery of the team outcomes, projects and client expectations. The selected applicants will be part of a niche team of IT Professionals working within our Canberra division. Applicants will have demonstrated experience in the support, design, and implementation of IT systems, and/or the delivery of IT projects and services to small and medium sized businesses and government agencies.
